Welcome
Sessions typically begin with welcoming the student and discussing any updates, achievements, or challenges from the previous session.
Review the Previous Week
Review the progress made on previously set goals or action items. Discuss what went well and what could be improved since the last session. Review any assigned homework. Discuss any mistakes to ensure student understands how to arrive at the correct answer.
Work on Skills and Strategies
Lesson focus: this could be a specific math concept, reading comprehension strategy, or grammar rules. Concept explanation and guided practice.
Practice and Application
Student may work on a set of practice problems independently based on the lesson that session. Tutor will review practice problems together and discuss any mistakes including test-taking strategies and how to apply those strategies.
Summary and Action Plan
Summarize the key takeaways and action items including expected homework. Confirm the goals and strategies for the next session.
Session Report
As part of our parental collaboration, the tutor will complete a session report with feedback and strategies to work on at home.
